Daniel P. Kapsak is a native of Long Island, New York. He is licensed to practice law before the Colorado and Nebraska State Bars, the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Mr. Kapsak's practice is devoted to estate and elder law planning.

Mr. Kapsak earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Relations from St. Joseph's College in New York, holds a Bachelor of Sacred Theology Degree and a Master of Divinity Degree from Loyola University, Chicago, and received his Juris Doctor from the Creighton University School of Law, Omaha, Nebraska.

Mr. Kapsak has maintained his own law practice since 1987, first in Omaha, Nebraska, and now in Colorado, as principal in The Kapsak Law Firm, LLC. He is an active member of the American, Colorado, Nebraska, and Boulder Bar Associations, as well as the Boulder Bar Foundation. Mr. Kapsak is currently a member of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council as well as the Tax, Probate, and Trust Law Division of the Colorado and Boulder Bar Associations. He is also a member of The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Mr. Kapsak has had articles on assorted issues published in the Colorado First Judicial District Newsletter, The Parenting Place, Front Range Living, Business Marketplace, Seniors Blue Book and Colorado Woman News. His speaking engagements on estate and elder law planning issues, and legal and medical ethical issues have included the Longmont, Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, and Allenspark Senior Centers, the Longmont United Hospital, Mile Hi Church of Lakewood and St. Aiden’s Episcopal Church of Boulder, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army of Denver, and Seniors Speak radio show. Mr. Kapsak is also a speaker with the National Business Institute on Estate and Medicaid Planning issues.

A commitment to current issues in Bio-ethics complements his estate and elder law planning practice. He serves on the Ethics Committee for Longmont United Hospital (current education committee member and immediate past co-chair), as well as the End of Life Coalition through HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties (current steering committee member), and the CPR Taskforce in conjunction with the Ethics Committee of Boulder Community Hospital. Mr. Kapsak is a member of the Colorado Health Ethics Forum and the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics.

In related areas, he is an Adjunct Professor for the Regis University School for Professional Studies in the areas of Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Business Ethics, and has taught with the National Academy for Paralegal Studies, in Colorado Springs.

Previously, Mr. Kapsak worked as a Legal Editor for Shepard's/McGraw-Hill, publishing numerous articles in Causes of Action as well as supplements to various other legal volumes. He also served on the Metro Legacy and Planned Giving Committee of the American Cancer Society.

In the community, Mr. Kapsak has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Longmont YMCA, and has provided legal counsel to the Longmont Senior Achievement Board and the Longmont Interfaith Respite Caregivers. In addition, Mr. Kapsak served as member and chairperson of the Human Relations Commission for the City of Longmont; acted as a Loaned Executive through the El Paso County United Way; served as an At-Large Director of the Gunbarrel/Niwot Business Association; and has worked as a studio musician and participated in various theater groups as a musician and actor. He is an active fund-raiser for The Children's Hospital Foundation through his support of and participation in its annual Courage Classic bicycle tour.

Mr. Kapsak is married to Cheryle Herbig-Kapsak who teaches for Summit Middle School in Boulder, and is an Adjunct Professor for Regis University. They have three children: Gabrielle, a Research Grant Coordinator through the University of Rochester; Mary, a paralegal specialist with the Department of Justice in Washington, DC; and Hannah, a fourth-year student in ballet at Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts.
