  • Dan Kapsak is proud to be riding the 20th edition of the Children's Hospital Courage Classic, to benefit the Denver Children's Hospital, this coming July. Over the past 19 years, Dan has raised over $35,000 and is hoping to exceed all expectations for this year's ride. Dan explains why he has ridden every edition of the ride as follows: "I've ridden the Courage Classic since its humble beginnings in 1990. Over the years I have watched members of Team Courage (and our own families) grow to adulthood; shared the sorrows of the loss of children who fought the good fight; ridden with tears in my eyes as courageous young people challenge themselves physically and mentally to accomplish what I so lightly take for granted." If you can contribute to this wonderful cause, please go to www.couragetours.com and follow the links to donate in the name of a rider (Dan). On behalf of the children and staff of The Denver Children's Hospital, Thank You!

  • Dan Kapsak will be presenting various workshops and continuing legal education seminars in the coming months. These include:

Roseann Murray will be presenting a Continuing Legal Education Seminar on "Handling a Social Security Disability Case" for the National Business Institute in Denver, on July 17th. Roseann will also be presenting a CLE seminar on "The Probate Process from Start to Finish" for NBI in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on December 14th. If you have any questions about either of these excellent presentations, please contact us.

Dan Kapsak is now affiliated with the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, and will be expanding his workshop topics to specifically address Advance Directives including Health Care Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and DNR's; and End of Life Issues (and Wishes). To schedule Dan to speak to your group or organization on these or other topics, please contact our offices. Further information about the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care may be found at www.cochpc.org.

Dan's recent presentations include a workshop on Powers of Attorney at the Broomfield Senior Center where he addressed the issues of why powers of attorney are so important, what types of powers of attorney should be created, how to identify elder abuse by the agent, and how to select appropriate agents; and a joint workshop with Peggy Arnold of Prestige Plus and Kim Mooney of Boulder/Broomfield Hospice on Advance Care Planning to the Folks in Aging membership in Longmont, where they considered advance directive planning including living wills, health care powers, DNR's, and options for health care (guardianships, proxies, agents, surrogates) in the face of incapacity or disability.

  • Life Testaments (sometimes called Ethical Wills) play a very important part in conveying to loved ones our values, dreams, and our life's foundations. Dan Kapsak has prepared an in-office conversation and workbook to assist clients to begin the exploration of one's values and foundations so they may convey them in words, photos, or otherwise. Please feel free to contact Dan to schedule a time to begin this exciting, challenging, and ultimately rewarding process.

Life Testaments, or ethical wills, are a way to share your values, blessings, life’s lessons, hopes and dreams for the future, love, and forgiveness with your family, friends, and community. The Terri Schiavo Tragedy
This article is not meant to advance the position taken by either the parents of Terri Schiavo nor her husband in this most tragic event.
